The Day
Tomorrow is the day. The last day Abby will spend at Glenda's. She has spent most days there since she was 6 months old. Jake has been there since he was 10 weeks old. Since we've moved to the suburbs and Abby is starting school, it just makes sense to get everyone in the same place. Jake will join the pre-schoolers at Kindercare, and Abby will go there before and after her full-day kindergarten.
We've known about this all summer. We've planned for it. It's going to be a great change for me. I can now ride the bus to and from work instead of driving there via South Minneapolis and paying way too much for parking. Still. I don't feel ready for tomorrow.
There have already been tears from all of us. Sophia and Jack have been with us since we joined Glenda's. They are like a big brother and sister to my kids. Sophia is 10. Glenda caught her coming out of the bathroom crying after they talked about Abby's last day.
Glenda is our daycare mom. She is a very important person to all of us and to suddenly not see her every day seems like we'll be missing out on someone special. She has become a dear friend to me and someone I can talk to about anything. She knows better than anyone when something is bothering me. We're going to set up "playdates" with our hair stylist since we go to the same one. We're going to schedule days-off school when Jake and Abby can go visit. We're going to do our best to not lose touch.
Abby will say good-bye tomorrow. Jake will do the same on Thursday. I hope to hold it together through both. My kids are incredibly lucky to have had Glenda in their lives. She has given them a home away from home and a lot of love. I will forever be grateful for that.

Kris -
Your entry today reminded me of your days with Eleanor! How wonderful she was to your family and a special blessing to you. And now Glenda has been a beautiful gift to the four of you!
It's amazing how many beautiful people cross our paths. I know you won't allow the friendships to fade.
Love you.....Marcy
